Visual aids for teaching
Visual aids for teaching
This gift provides teachers with pictures, posters, and other visual aids for Bible stories to use with neurodivergent students.
Ministry partner: Emanuel House
Location: Quisqueya, Dominican Republic
Emanuel House (EH) serves 150 children from 117 of the poorest families in Quisqueya, feeding them spiritually, physically, and emotionally. In addition to Bible study and education, children receive access to clean water, functioning bathrooms, and regular meals (breakfast, lunch, and a snack)—which they may not have access to at home.
Emanuel House stands out for its work with neurodiverse children–those with hearing loss, partial vision loss, physical disabilities, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and dyslexia. Resources for disabled children are hard to come by in the Dominican Republic. Families don't have access to the necessary tools and resources and the community often lacks knowledge on integrating neurodiverse kids into daily life.
