Ruama

Ruama is a remarkable ministry located in São Paulo, Brazil, that is making a significant impact on the lives of children, teenagers, and families in its community. Founded in 1982 by Christian university students and leaders from the 2nd Presbyterian Church of Carapicuíba, Ruama's mission is rooted in the biblical phrase "She who received grace, compassion, and mercy" from Hosea 2:1, the Ruama Project embodies these core values in its approach to serving this underprivileged area.

Ruama's primary focus is on serving at-risk children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 in the Murão Shantytown. It provides essential before and after-school programs that offer a safe and nurturing environment for the children. During these programs, the children participate in educational projects covering subjects like science, math and Portuguese, as well as engaging in games, crafts, supervised play, and Bible lessons. Ruama also provides the children with a nutritious meal every day.
