Shoes and Backpacks
Shoes and Backpacks
Young people at Teen Ministry continue to collect, sort, and clean garbage for their families to sell. Medical waste, while hazardous to handle, can be sold at the highest price. Shoes protect children from injuring their feet by stepping on needles, broken glass, or sharp metal. Backpacks provide a place to keep school supplies and personal items safe and clean.
Ministry Partner: Teen Ministry
Location: Cairo, Egypt
Teen Ministry has experienced significant growth, expanding its mission to serve both teenage girls and boys in the "garbage city" of Cairo, Egypt. This area, known for its lack of basic infrastructure such as electricity, water, and a sewage system, presents severe challenges for its residents. Despite these hardships, Teen Ministry continues to bring love, hope, and practical assistance to the youth living there. Some have never learned to bathe or care for themselves before coming to Teen Ministry.
Many young women and several young men who have come through Teen Ministry have come to faith in Christ. They are breaking cycles of abuse and darkness by marrying believers and seeking to raise their families to love the Lord and His church. Several have been sent out as missionaries to outlying areas, assisting local churches in sharing the gospel with children in their communities and spreading the light of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ across the country.
Teen Ministry's outreach now extends to boys in the community, who, like the girls, face a harsh daily reality. Boys, too, are involved in collecting and sorting garbage, often without proper protection and exposed to numerous hazards. By including boys in their programs, Teen Ministry fosters an environment where all teenagers can access medical and dental services, hygiene education, clothing, and educational support.
